Alright, I'm Neil, and welcome to part 5 of my "Sonic Boom" review! I can provide some constructive criticism on how to improve the "Sonic Boom" TV show, and here's how. First off, PLEASE don't make Amy a jerk. She can still make irrational decisions while STILL caring about her friends; the "Sonic Adventure" games proved that about her. Also, Knuckles doesn't have to be an idiot; "Sonic 3 and Knuckles" proved that about him and so did "Sonic Adventure 2."

And Knuckles could keep his design from the games, be smart, and even be a good cook, plus it would give him and Amy something to bond over. Also, I did like the idea of Sonic trying to be an engineer from the episode called "Fire In a Crowded Workshop" because that could be trying to give Sonic a new skill! I did like Sticks having paranoia about things like Eggman stealing the water and how the translator in one episode was trying to turn her and her friends against each other; that can be justified paranoia! But I don't want Sticks to say really stupid things like "trees are spying on her" or "blueberries will jump out of blueberry muffins"; that just makes her sound like she needs mental help! I do like the idea of her being a character, though, and I wouldn't mind her coming back if she's a deeper character.

In addition, have Eggman be a threatening villain and have Orbot and Cubot be willing to serve him and have Eggman get some victories so that we can see him as a tyrant that Sonic and his friends have to take down! Plus I want to see Sonic and Tails actually love being around each other, and if they have to argue, fine, but at least have there be a valid excuse. Maybe Tails wants to date a pretty girl who is older than him but is Sonic's age; the Archie Sonic comics pulled THAT off when Fiona dated Sonic and when Tails was mad about that, though Tails should have known that Fiona was about Sonic's age and that dating her would have been illegal. Plus Tails was angry with Sonic in Archie Sonic issues 178 and 179 because Sonic sided with King Elias instead of Tails's dad Amadeus, and I don't really think Tails was in the wrong on that, either, because Sonic had no excuse to keep Amadeus in prison! You'd think if ANYTHING, Sonic would be siding WITH Tails, NOT against him! Anyway, maybe something like what I suggested or anything else that could give a valid reason for those two to argue wouldn't be out of the question!

Also, I don't want the villagers in "Sonic Boom" to be unlikable people! Whether the villagers are villains or people that Sonic and his friends should protect, I just want those villagers to be likable, charming, and sympathetic people. In addition, the animation could be improved by at least a little bit because I don't need to see some of the same character models repeated, plus I'd like to see animation that isn't lazy and at least tries to be good. Also, I don't need stupid puns in a Sonic cartoon or jokes about bureaucracy! If you want some comedy, sure, I don't mind some comedy, but maybe have it involve some snarky lines from someone like Eggman or Sonic! Give the characters some hobbies that they want to do and try to make them deeper characters, plus I wouldn't mind some sweet moments between people like Amy and Sticks or Sonic and Tails! I would love that! For example, I thought it was sweet of Sonic to hold Tails in an episode where Tails was scared of lightning and I thought it was sweet of Sticks to hug Amy in one "Sonic Boom" episode:)

OK, sure, "Sonic Boom" isn't a bad show, but I do think it could have been done better. We didn't really need Amy Rose being a jerk, Knuckles being a dumb muscular idiot, Eggman not really being a competent villain, Sticks saying some random things that make no sense, or horrible villagers! Sonic fans deserve better! Anyway, I hope that you all have a great day:)

Alright, I'm Neil, and welcome to part 4 of my "Sonic Boom" review! No, I don't hate every "Sonic Boom" episode. There are some episodes I like such as "Dude Where’s My Eggman," "The Meteor," "Nutwork," "Closed Door Policy," "Fire in a Crowded Workshop," and "Cabin Fever" and that's because those stories have some interesting ideas. For instance, I love that in the "Dude, Where's My Eggman" episode, that Eggman throws a surprise party for Cubot and Orbot instead of trying to just trying to kill Sonic and his friends. I also liked "The Meteor" episode because it took advantage of the body-switching concept in a very creative way since Sonic and Eggman switched bodies, plus Knuckles was even useful without knowing it.

It would make sense that someone whom is vain at his core along with being childish and fun-loving like Eggman would want to play a video game. That helped actually save the heroes because Eggman, in Sonic's body, wanted to kill the heroes, but because of Knuckles having a video game, Eggman wanted to play it when he was in Sonic's body. "Nutwork" isn't too bad of an episode either, and neither is "Closed Door Policy" because not only do both of those episodes prove that Sticks isn't just some paranoid idiot who spouts delusional nonsense, but I do like how "Closed Door Policy" gave the heroes a little bit of a break from fighting. "Nutwork" and "Closed Door Policy" proved that sometimes, Sticks might have things to be legitimately concerned about like Eggman taking away water and evil creatures that can escape a cave unless she puts some things in front of the cave entrance that's in her house. I also loved "Fire In A Crowded Workshop" because it had interesting ideas that could be presented like Knuckles having Amy and Perci be attracted to him and Sonic being an engineer, plus Tails was quite lovable in that episode.

"Cabin Fever" wasn't too bad either because I loved the creative ways that Knuckles, Sonic, Tails, and Sticks loved to spend their downtime by doing things like being king of a fort or doing pillow fights. But when I hate an episode, I REALLY hate an episode like ones like "Don't Judge Me," "Just A Guy," "Do Not Disturb," "Role Models," and "It Wasn't Me, It Was The One-Armed Hedgehog." You can check out part 1 to see why I hate the first three episodes. As for why I hate "Role Models," OK, sure, I can get that most teenagers are irresponsible by nature since I used to be one, but HOW is Amy cooking NOT having her be a good role model?!? I'd say that's incredibly good of her to do!

And I don't buy that someone like Sticks, Tails, Knuckles, or Sonic can't be good cooks! OK, sure, maybe COOKING things from scratch isn't easy, but you can still bake and/or heat things in a MICROWAVE AND/OR AN OVEN!!! It's NOT REALLY HARD to follow written instructions on a package of food! As long as you have a microwave, oven, bowls, some parchment paper, and some other utensils and materials, you should be fine! Plus some things may not even NEED to be baked!

I've made Oreo pies FOR YEARS for Thanksgiving and that requires ZERO BAKING! Also, why does that stupid platypus guy thing it's WRONG to fight Eggman?!? HOW DUMB IS HE?!? I LOVED Sticks tying him up because he DESERVED to be tied up for preventing the heroes from stopping Eggman! In addition, I REALLY hated how Sonic considered himself edgy in "Sonic Boom" and also hated Amy insulting Sonic near the end of the "Role Models" episode!

If anything, Sonic isn't really edgy in "Sonic Boom," plus Amy shouldn't be rude to Sonic! She needs to be NICE to Sonic, not rude to him! If you want to know WHY I think Sonic shouldn't involve bad comedy and SHOULD be edgy unlike Mario, read my most recent Sonic post that's titled "While I DO love at least some Sonic games and some Sonic stories, they CAN and SHOULD BE BETTER" to see information on WHY I think Sonic needs action and needs to be edgy! I also REALLY hated the episode called "It Wasn't Me, It Was The One-Armed Hedgehog" because of how willing the citizens were willing to turn on Sonic the Hedgehog INSTEAD of Eggman! I would have liked Eggman to KILL those villagers because of how useless they are!

I guess the animation is fine, though maybe sometimes the animators forgot to animate something, plus there was no excuse for an animation cheat to happen at least once in the show and to reuse some animation at least sometimes. OK, sure, I don't hate "Sonic Boom" and I don't necessarily think it's a bad show, but there are some things that I think could be improved about it, and I'll provide a couple of pictures of words to explain what I mean. But if there is ONE thing I do like about that show, I do like that that show shows characters like Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles hanging out as actual friends. I just tend to prefer "Sonic Underground" more because OK, sure, the singing from Sonia, Sonic, and Manic was cheesier than the cheesiest cheese pizza each episode plus continuity didn't seem to always exist, but I loved the cast of main characters in that group more than I do of "Sonic Boom!"

OK, sure, Sonia was at least a brat sometimes in "Sonic Underground" and I know her voice can be annoying, but she's actually a very nice young lady and a great character, and her brother Sonia is actually not too bad either even if he is a thief! I know that some people like "Sonic Boom," and that's absolutely fine; I don't hate the people who like the show. But I do want to provide some constructive criticism in the next post on how that show can be improved, so take care, all of you, and have a nice day:)

Alright, welcome to part 3 of my analysis of the TV show called "Sonic Boom!" And do you know what?!? I HATE the random villagers in the village of "SONIC BOOM!" They're just as unlikable as the random citizens of Bikini Bottom are in some SpongeBob SquarePants episodes! I felt REALLY SORRY for Sonic in that episode called "Don't Judge Me" because Sonic didn't deserve to be SUED by Eggman, and in fact, Eggman's case against Sonic should have been THROWN OUT IMMEDIATELY!!!

Also, I HATED the villagers in the "Don't Judge Me" episode because they were sympathizing with EGGMAN! I wouldn't have minded if Dr. Eggman had a nuclear bomb blow up that city or took it over because I'm NOT endeared to those villagers AT ALL>:( And sure, Sonic's not my most favorite character in "Sonic Boom," but I FELT AWFUL for him in that episode called "Just A Guy" because the citizens were NOT even TRYING to understand that a random citizen named Mike wasn't really capable of fighting Eggman like Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and Sticks were! The episode called "Just A Guy" was just infuriating because Sonic wasn't really doing ANYTHING wrong and he was trying to keep Mike safe, but random citizens and even AMY AND KNUCKLES were mad at Sonic for excluding Mike! If people think Sonic was BAD in that episode, he really wasn't; Sonic in the Fleetway Sonic comics ACTS WAY WORSE than Sonic does in "Sonic Boom," but even then, he's still a lovable character in that series because he has some snarky dialogue and he isn't totally heartless.

Also, I'd consider Amy Rose to be the LEAST qualified person to give "sensitivity training!" Does ANYONE remember in "Sonic Heroes" that she wanted to beat up Sonic?!? That's not even mentioning that in other games like "Sonic Rush" and "Sonic and the Black Knight," she's violent to her friends, and in "Sonic X," she was hot-tempered and bossy, ESPECIALLY in season 3! If people thought PRINCESS SALLY ACORN was a horrible jerk in the Archie Sonic comics, she was actually quite nice and polite most of the time. If people thought Sally Acorn's worst moment of the Archie Sonic comics was the iconic slap of issue #134 that at least some people want to hold over her head like a guillotine, I don't think it is because SHE APOLOGIZED to Sonic 53 issues later in issue #187!

No; I think Sally's worst moment of the entire comic was when she had Sonic imprisoned around the time of Archie Sonic comic #40; THAT, I think, was her worst moment right there! That was because Sonic was REALLY the only competent Freedom Fighter that could effectively keep Sally, Tails, Bunnie, Antoine, and Rotor from being kidnapped and/or turned into brainwashed robots by Dr. Robotnik, so by imprisoning Sonic, Sally was making A REALLY STUPID MOVE! You'd have to have the brain of a dead cat to be mad at Sally for a slap that she apologized to Sonic for later! I'd say that what Sally did when she imprisoned Sonic was WAY more deserving of hatred than a mere slap to the face that she did in issue #134, but even THEN, fortunately, Sally is still a good character in the Archie Sonic comics despite her shortcomings because she does more good than she does bad.

I can't really say the same for Amy in "Sonic Boom," and sadly, I wish I could:( And no, I don't think EVERY "Sonic Boom" episode is a train-wreck; for some of the next few posts, I will talk about some of the episodes that I hate AND some episodes that I like. Take care and stay tuned for part 4:)

Alright, I'm Neil, and welcome to part 2 of my analysis of the TV show called "Sonic Boom!" WHAT DID THEY DO TO KNUCKLES?!? They didn't have to make Knuckles an idiot! OK, sure, SOMETIMES Knuckles WAS an idiot in SOME games like "Sonic Adventure" and "Sonic Advance 2," but he did have some moments of intelligence in "Sonic 3 and Knuckles" and "Sonic Adventure 2!" For instance, Knuckles knew how to set up some clever traps for Sonic and Tails in "Sonic 3 and Knuckles," plus, in "Sonic Adventure 2," I loved how smart Knuckles was along with his deadpan snarker attitude; why couldn't we have had THOSE things as part of Knuckles's personality?!?

In addition, I don't like how mean Amy is to her friends sometimes. I don't find Amy seeming to want to side with Eggman or bickering with her friends admirable behavior! When I played "Sonic Adventure 2 Battle" not too long ago, I loved seeing Amy in that game because she didn't really bicker with her friends at all plus she didn't really side with any villains (well, OK, she did convince Shadow to be good, but how is THAT evil?!?). I actually kind of like Sticks in "Sonic Boom"; she's kind of interesting as a character. Sure, she can have an obnoxious voice, but I've heard worse. I do like that she has some paranoia of Eggman, loves nature, and while she can have wild conspiracy theories, she can have some great character moments like the ones listed here by my friend "CrystalMaiden 77" at the link https://crystalmaiden77.wordpress.com/.../great-moments.../.

I do like that Sticks can have some relatability saying that she doesn't want to embarrass herself like in that episode called "My Fair Sticksy" plus I can understand why she wanted that award in that same episode. Let's face it; I'd be pretty miffed if I didn't get a reward for doing anything good, too! I also like how Sticks taught Amy some survival skills in the episode called "Into The Wilderness." Also, I want Eggman to be a more legitimate threat; he just really isn't a great villain in "Sonic Boom!" Sure, Robotnik wasn't a great villain in "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog," either, but at least he got to loot some villages in THAT show, plus he was great as a villain in "Sonic Adventure 2" and in "Sonic SatAm!"

Since the heroes seem to win against him so much, I actually would NOT have MINDED if Eggman got some victories against them at least once! Also, I don't hate Orbot and Cubot at all; I like them. In fact, I actually kind of feel sorry for them since Eggman doesn't really love them and when they ditch Eggman sometimes, the heroes aren't loving to them when Cubot and Orbot don't really do anything wrong! It's not like Orbot and Cubot are unredeemable people I've seen like Scratch from "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog," Snively from the Archie Sonic comics and "Sonic SatAm," Sleet from "Sonic Underground," Sigma from the Mega Man X series, Dr. Weil from the Mega Man Zero series, or Dr. Wily from the classic Mega Man games! I do question why Dr. Eggman wouldn't make Orbot and Cubot unquestioningly loyal to him, though. Stick around for part 3 of my analysis of "Sonic Boom," and take care!

Hey guys, I'm Neil, and sorry for not posting in a while. Forgive me for that. By the way, before I talk about some Archie Sonic comics that I kind of grew up, I figured that before that, I might as well talk about a Sonic cartoon that has never been discussed by me before in depth, and that would be "Sonic Boom!" This "Sonic Boom" show has Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy alongside a new character named Sticks the Badger trying to fight off Eggman and his assistants Orbot and Cubot. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy have been redesigned by quite a bit, especially Knuckles. Personally, I'm not too offended by Sonic having blue arms; I think that's pretty stupid to blow a gasket over, but I don't think that Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy needed a lot of sports tape, plus Knuckles didn't need to be so darn muscular! I have heard some people complain about Eggman's design in "Sonic Boom," but I actually kind of like it; it kind of suits him.

Alright, now that ALL OF THAT is discussed, I'm going to discuss more of the things I like and the things I don't like. First off, while I do appreciate that Amy's being given some talents like cooking and arts and crafts, why can't someone else like KNUCKLES, STICKS, or TAILS have such talents, too?!? I don't think that ONLY GIRLS have to be talented with arts and crafts and cooking; I've made Oreo pies plenty of times, plus I can bake or reheat some frozen pizza or frozen chicken strips just fine! Sonic as a character is OK sometimes, but why does he act like such a tired grump who hates adventure at least sometimes?!? The Sonic I know from "Sonic Adventure 2," Sonic Heroes," and even most Archie Sonic comics is a fun-loving hedgehog who would LOVE adventure!

There are SOME episodes where I can feel sorry for Sonic, and I'll get to those later. Sometimes, in "Sonic Boom," I do love it when Sonic shows concern for Tails like when Tails gets into Sonic's arms when Tails gets scared in one episode of lightning or when Tails chokes on something because Sonic IS supposed to be one of Tails's best friends. If Sonic and Tails show up in any continuity, that NEEDS to be a constant thing unless maybe there's a justified reason for a strain on the friendship. "Sonic Lost World" DID NOT HAVE THAT at ALL because Tails should have REALIZED that the partnership he and Sonic had with Eggman in "Sonic Lost World" was TEMPORARY! Alright, sorry for that tangent; I just needed to try to make a point, and that point is, I don't mind if a rift in a friendship happens in fiction, but it needs to be justified.

Tails at least sometimes is fine as a character, though sometimes he can be either be a nice and innocent kid, a jerk, or very smug, and I don't like when he's any of the latter two. I don't like it when Tails treats Sonic roughly because Tails isn't Eggman! Comedic sociopathy is probably something you'd expect out of modern SpongeBob SquarePants episodes, not Sonic the Hedgehog! Also, there's one episode called "Do Not Disturb" that REALLY enrages me because Sonic and Tails were arguing with each other for no good reason, Sonic was being a slob, and they were being horrible to each other! I don't recall ONE SINGLE INSTANCE in the Sonic series where Sonic was a slob except in the "Sonic SatAm" episode where he was in Antoine's house for a bit, but it made sense since he hated Antoine!

I don't see ANY good reason for Sonic to really hate Tails unless maybe Tails is being too rough on experimenting with Sonic because THEN that might be a good reason for conflict. But even then, why would Tails WANT to treat Sonic roughly?!? It's not like Sonic killed his parents or anything! Also, why would Sonic say that he'd be uncomfortable HUGGING Tails?!? At least Tails IS one of the more likable characters, though, and he's not as bad as Knuckles or Amy can be. Stick around for part 2 of my analysis of "Sonic Boom."

While I DO love at least some Sonic games and some Sonic stories, they CAN and SHOULD BE BETTER!

I love the Sonic the Hedgehog video game franchise and I love a lot of games that involve Sonic. They played a huge role in my childhood, and sure, maybe some games like "Sonic '06" and "Sonic and the Secret Rings" are ones that I consider failures, but I want the Sonic franchise to succeed and I want the very best for it like a concerned parent would like for his or her children. I want Sonic's franchise to succeed. I played "Sonic Colors Ultimate" on the Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, and sure, it might not be as glitchy as I've seen when I played it (I played it with the patches), but it had zero excuses to have the glitches that it did on release day! What I do know is that I don't want badly-rushed games of poor or not great quality like "Sonic '06" was about 15 years ago, "Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric" about 7 years ago, or even "Sonic Forces" about 4 years ago.

Plus I don't want absolutely atrocious writing quality either like I got from "Sonic Colors," "Sonic Lost World," or "Sonic Forces" if a story is going to be in a Sonic game! I don't think Sonic has to be just a cocky hedgehog who spouts quips; I don't think Amy Rose has to just be a fangirl of Sonic; Tails can be more than just a guy who likes making machines. Does anyone remember the plot of "Sonic Adventure 1?" I LOVED how Amy was characterized in that game because she WASN'T just a fangirl of Sonic; she was a sweet girl who cared for an injured bird, she reasoned with E-102 Gamma and saved his life, plus after a robot injured the bird she was carrying with her, Amy stood up to the robot like a champ! In "Sonic Adventure 2," Shadow didn't try to beat Sonic because he thought of himself as superior to Sonic; he did it because Sonic was trying to save the world when in Shadow's eyes, the world was guilty of killing his best friend Maria!

Tails doesn't have to be a coward who only relies on Sonic either like he did in "Sonic Forces," either. "Sonic Adventure" and "Sonic Adventure 2" prove that, especially "Sonic Adventure 2," plus Tails doesn't have to just be a smart guy. Knuckles doesn't have to be an idiot; he was actually at least kind of smart like "Sonic 3 and Knuckles" and "Sonic Adventure 2" proved. I just want Sonic writers to understand that some people don't just play Sonic games just because we want a good Sonic game to play, but also because some Sonic fans want lovable characters and at least some enjoyable writing, and I'm one of such fans who desires all of those things if a story is going to be involved in a game of Sonic! I don't like it when Amy is a jerk to her friends by yelling at them or trying to beat them up like in "Sonic Rush" or "Sonic and the Black Knight!" I think Sonic saying stupid lines like "Baldy McNosehair" or "no copyright law in the universe is going to stop me" is unacceptable!

And I don't want Tails being a jerk to Sonic when Sonic doesn't deserve it like what happened in "Sonic Lost World!" But I can provide some constructive criticism, and I can prove it for stories involving Sonic and his friends. First off, don't make Amy a jerk to her friends or Sonic and don't have Amy want to beat up people like Cream or Sonic. Only have Amy attack her enemies!

Don't make Tails a jerk to Sonic, don't make Tails a coward, and don't just make him a genius who says stupid things like "I made a TV out of paper clips" or "I reprogrammed a supercomputer using dishwashing detergent and a toothpick." Have him have sweet moments with Sonic. Get rid of Dr. Eggman (seriously, I'm sick of him being a villain!!!)!!! Replace Eggman with villains whom aren't only evil, but ones that can be funny, charming, and competent! Also, I want the heroes to be competent and lovable characters, too! Have some nice friendship moments like what happened in Archie Sonic comic #179 when Sonic apologized to Tails or in Archie Sonic comic #246 when Sonic and Amy hugged each other.

Try to do some world-building and try to make characters like Amy, Sonic, and Tails deep, try to have the characters take themselves and the situations seriously, and try to have a good story-telling tone balance like "Sonic Adventure 2" or "Sonic SatAm" did. Also, have a villain like Eggman or Zavok explain WHY they're evil. If you can do all of that along with trying to make a good Sonic story, then I think that you'll have a recipe for success! At least some of those things that I mentioned were things that the Archie Sonic comics did better (seriously, even the "Mega Man Zero" series didn't have one major villain; it had at least two with one being Copy X, another being Dr. Weil, another being Elpizo, and one being Omega!!!).

Welcome to the final part of my "Sonic SatAm" review! How to improve "Sonic SatAm" for starters would be to make Antoine competent, being a sly clever plan-maker, and simply a rude rival to Sonic like Geoffrey St. John was in the Archie Sonic comics. Antoine could still be strong, like in the "Other M" comics that Ian Flynn wrote. Also, have Rotor constantly giving the heroes tools like laser guns, rope-shooting cannons, net-shooting-cannons, grappling hooks, and more.

It would also help if every time Antoine does screw up or someone else does, have them get punished for it by their friends, show them cleaning the toilets or something instead of just letting Antoine get away with everything with barely any insults. And then the person who screws up would have to make it up to their friends. Another change that would be beneficial is to make Bunnie, Dulcy, Tails (who can be a mage for originality), and Sonic, be the main focuses on the hero’s side because they’re the most competent. Since Tails would be one of the main characters, his loving brotherly relationship with Sonic would be a regular source of sweet moments.

Having actual continuity from the start kind of like the Archie Sonic comics did while having genuine long-term consequences for things that happen would help too even if it's for something as small as characters being injured for some episodes. Also, I wouldn't mind "Sonic SatAm" having a lot more actual worldbuilding and a little more history with original characters so I actually feel like there’s a unique SatAm World I can be invested in and take seriously, and not just the occasional Wizard Lazaar or monster king. Giving a proper origin to Nicole and Dulcy instantly, making Sally not a constant jerk to Sonic, making Rotor more of a tough guy who really has a personal grudge against Robotnik and Snively, and make Robotnik ENTERTAINING would help a lot out too. In addition, have Robotnik be a goofy target of a joke every so often like when he was bothered by bumblebees EVERY episode, make him a hammy villain laughing maniacally like Snively in the episode "No Brainer," actually having fun with the character. We don't need a BORING overly serious tryhard who just sits in a chair doing no inventing whatsoever.

I respect Robotnik's threatening antagonist ” ruler ” role way more than Eggman's pathetic role in "Sonic X" and the games, but there’s a balance here, he can be a serious threat AND be remotely entertaining. It would’ve been amazing if Sally and Antoine were made cyborgs, too, like what easily could’ve happened. And if Rotor was giving the cyborgs the comic abilities Bunnie had right from the start like an actually competent gadgeteer would do right away like making them able to fly, shoot lasers, create a force field maybe, extendible limbs, etc., that would be awesome! Bunnie only having super strength was EXTREMELY disappointing. Maybe Antoine could cling to walls like Mega Man X or Zero can in Mega Man X games, maybe Sally could make a force-field around herself, or things like that.

It’d be great if characters like Bunnie, Rotor and especially Nicole were just deeper characters in general, with more personality traits, even if it’s something minor like ” they like to binge-watch fantasy films, they eat too many snacks and Rotor tries to lose weight a lot, one can swim, ” etc. Obviously this should extend to Sally, too, she should be like Sally was in the Archie Sonic comics, though keep the gadgeteer part I suppose, but make her the leader and not rude to Sonic constantly. At least some of those things are things that Archie Sonic comics does BETTER like not making Sally a constant jerk to Sonic, having long-term continuity, and world-building along with a little more history with original characters. The biggest problems with "Sonic SatAm" are Antoine and filler. I’d be alright with the filler and see it as harmless downtime if the filler was simply sweet moments between the characters showing their friendship, like Tails being given a kiss in bed by Sally, or moments like when Sonic is holding Antoine after Antoine kissed Sonic's cheeks a lot.

Something like that would be nice and charming and help improve the appeal of "Sonic SatAm" by QUITE A LOT. At least the tone balance was fine in "Sonic SatAm" and wasn't too light-hearted like "AoStH" ("Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog") was or too dark and grim like a lot of Ian Flynn's stories from the Archie Sonic comics and IDW Sonic comics could be. I want Sonic the Hedgehog to be a series that ANY kind of person can enjoy, not just kids and not just teenagers or adults, and that was why I made the criticisms that I did with "Sonic Underground," "AoStH," and "Sonic X!" I can understand if people didn't really like "Sonic Underground," but I don't think it's the worst Sonic cartoon like at least some people think it is. It had some genuine heart and unique things about that show that made it unique from the games, and so does "Sonic SatAm." Well, that's really all I have to say about "Sonic SatAm!" I hope to have a review about "Mega Man X 5" later this month, so take care and I will see you all later:)

Welcome to part 8 of my "Sonic SatAm" review! Maybe Antoine with his Dirty Coward Miles Gloriosus personality would’ve worked better as a slimy villain. If Robotnik never bothered to roboticize Snively for some WEIRD reason, why not Antoine, too? I could imagine that if THIS Antoine was forced to live with the evil twins of his friends for a year, well at first he’d be much more panicky, but once he realized it wasn’t so bad and less dangerous, he might fully embrace villainy, because in his evil twin’s life, he can get people to wait on him hand and foot, compliment him out of fear, and basically get away with anything that doesn’t cross his friends.

When those bikers were bowing to him and waiting on him, he didn’t feel uncomfortable, he absolutely loved it. Imagine how he’d feel in Robotnik’s position, first he’d stop all the roboticization and then he’d cherish all of the benefits of being the ruler. Antoine would be better if he was shown as a lot more INTELLIGENT, making GOOD PLANS to make up for his clumsiness and using ray guns and rope-shooting cannons and a grappling hook, and a taser, tools like Geoffrey used that make me respect even HIM more. While his bragging and lying about being a coward is stupid of him when he should know it’s pointless, he showed signs of being intelligent when he made a plan to trick Robotnik into walking into a hole covered with leaves after luring him to him with a Ring.

The only reason his brilliant plan failed was because he didn’t think it through enough to use a fake Ring or simply a great invention of Rotor’s so there was less risk, and he had no way of knowing that Robotnik, the very not-active villain who sits on a chair all day, would have rocket-boots to escape and laser-shooting gloves as a Diabolus ex Machina. How was he supposed to know that? I would’ve loved it if he DID succeed and the heroes captured Robotnik, even if just temporarily. Then Snively could rescue him, fine.

But in the mean time, the heroes could’ve raided Robotropolis for stuff like the original roboticizer. Of course, I can provide constructive criticism, because I can think of how this show would’ve been much better. Join me in part 9 to see what I think could be improved about "Sonic SatAm!"

Welcome to part 7 of my "Sonic SatAm" review! There's an episode called "Fed Up with Antoine," which in fact DOESN’T involve the heroes themselves kicking Antoine out of the team. Sonic only leaves him in Robotropolis for a few seconds as a joke, and the heroes act like him quitting the team is a horrible thing, and they go to save him from the biker gang wanting to eat him with NO reason to save him because he did nothing to incentivize that and prove they need him. Normally in those kinds of stories, something happens to prove they need the character or the character is really helpful. The Fleetway Sonic comics had a story where Charmy was kicked out and then he saved the Chaotix afterwards.

Also, in that "Fed Up With Antoine" episode, Antoine fully embraced being a king to those bikers, ordering them to give him food and tea and one of them smelled his feet, and he told Sonic to bow to him and called all his friends peasants. This works a lot better than him being a failure of a hero because I can really get him in a villainous role like this. Remember Snively saying people will ” kiss the feet of Snively the Great?” How is that different from Antoine, letting a biker practically kiss his foot? And the arrogant way he was acting, he might as well have called himself Antoine the Great because he even had a makeshift crown! At best, he could’ve stayed with that gang, and made it a new Freedom Fighter group.

The writer didn’t have to write that the bikers were cannibals just to force him out of the gang. Antoine being the target of a demeaning joke, which he should’ve been much more of, would work if it was reserved for RIGHT AFTER he was a useless braggart who screwed up or lied about what a brave hero he is. But it’s not, Sonic just teases him out of nowhere looking like a bully, and I expected Sonic to be WAY MORE of a bully than he was. Instead, he’s mostly a bully in the early comic, where he even burned off his hair. In the show, he simply teases him. That’s so weak!

To make Antoine the target of a joke, they should’ve just had him get slapped or punched or giving crushing insults about his uselessness every time he was annoying, right after he was annoying. If he was insecure, self-aware of his uselessness, he’d be sympathetic! I LIKED in the pilot that Bunnie sarcastically said he was useful while implying that he wasn’t, showing resentment of him that makes a lot more sense than her calling him her sugar muffin when she should know he’s useless. In fact, Antoine in a Swatbot suit, somehow tripped when he tripped on ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, and that SOMEHOW got the heroes captured. Instead of him getting proper comeuppance when he lost a ring to Robotnik temporarily, Sonic never insults him for it, and he ends the episode being annoying, bragging in a made-up story about how only he was a hero being ungrateful to Sonic who just saved him.

He should’ve been made to clean all the toilets in Knothole. He didn’t even have a SWORD in this show, that’s how useless he was! To balance out his uselessness, he should’ve been constantly in a state of being punished for his screwing up, we should’ve constantly seen him having to do chores and menial tasks that he hates. And hey, if that drove him to eventually ditch the heroes and betray them and be an entertainingly COMPETENT villain, I’d be all for it, because he shows potential, like when he said like a villain, ” now, Robotnik, all you are is MINE, ” which I could easily imagine him saying to Sonic.

He gets made the king of a biker gang and he fully embraces that role, acting like Snively in "No Brainer," and he even offers to join Snively’s side kissing his foot at one point! He even lied to a Swatbot that he was Robotnik’s friend. Is there foreshadowing to this kind of development? At least villains are honest about and intentionally trying to sabotage the heroes. Stay tuned for more of my review and until then, take care:)

Welcome to part 6 of my "Sonic SatAm" review! Season 2 of "Sonic SatAm" was the point where the show actually got good because of actual CONTINUITY. Before then, it was mostly average-to-bad episodes, with an albeit good start. But yeah, one of my biggest problems with the show aside from me hating characters was the lack of continuity. Sadly, the things that should have permanent long-term consequences, don’t. For example, you'd think that Griff taking half of the Power Rock that produced the Rings for the Lake of Rings would cause long-term consequences, but it doesn't because I’d expect that to make the lake produce only half as many rings from then on.

Or how about a fake Sally infiltrator getting turned against Robotnik, shooting lasers all over his base? We never see her again, the heroes just abandon her in Robotropolis like psychopaths instead of reprogramming her to be on their side. I would’ve liked a fake Sally infiltrator better than the normal Sally! She can shoot lasers, she has infra-red vision or some kind of red eye laser like that, she can even send sticky Mega Muck quicksand from her finger. But no, she’s an idiot all episode and then forgotten.

How about the secret scrolls of magic and wonder that get forgotten after a whole episode dedicated to getting them? When Antoine was just about to be roboticized, and we even saw electricity surround him, Sonic only then stopped the roboticizer. He should’ve been made into a cool cyborg after that and been actually competent, but no, then we’d have continuity and actual consequences that last for more than one episode. That could’ve happened to Sally, too! Why did Robotnik take so long to try to roboticize her after replacing her with a fake Sally?

Sally and Antoine could’ve been awesome cyborgs, too! And there was an entire episode dedicated to destroying Robotnik’s electricity generators, but that never has lasting consequences, either. Why should I care, why should I get invested, why should I be expected to take the show seriously, when it has all these obvious dropped dangling plot threads that are ignored just an episode later? Why care about the heroes’ struggle, what are they even fighting for when they accomplish nothing? This show runs on such obvious meta logic and it takes me out of it.

It’s also lazy that while they planned to explain NICOLE’S origin, they never did. Yeah, let’s not explain the magical computer who can do anything as a lazy plot device! It's like they don't know what was really important. Sure, the show DID introduce continuity in Season 2, but by then it was too late, they had already had several plot threads that were dropped and couldn’t be resolved because it was too far ahead of when they were forgotten. And even in Season 2 where the series gets good – I especially loved seeing Ixis and the king’s Mobotropolis history which I thought were exclusive to the comic, it’s like a TV adaptation of the comic book! – even in the better part of the show, it’s still plagued by Antoine’s useless filler and he even gets a whole filler episode dedicated to torturing him, which I don’t find cathartic because the torture isn’t intentional by the characters. Plus Rotor never SAYS that he intentionally programmed the lady-bot to go stalk him to punish him.

Sonic never SAYS that he’s intentionally making him go over-the-top crazy with being a slob in his house, he even tells his friends that ANTOINE’S the slob after leaving it, not reacting properly at all to seeing Antoine go nuts because of him. And that doesn’t have consequences either, by the way. He’s fine a scene later. So him being tormented in those stories is forced the whole time rather than logical and natural, which is too distracting to be that cathartic. I'll talk more about the show in the next post; take care until then:)

Welcome to part 5 of my review of "Sonic SatAm!" I was very pleasantly surprised by Dulcy, who’s way more useful than Antoine the braggart because she’s bad in the comic, but in the show, well, she makes a good first impression right away. She scares Antoine by yelling at him, "look out! ” showing a sense of humor to her and clear personality, a stark contrast to Bunnie and Rotor. She has the greatest line in the entire show: ” Can it, Antoine! ” YES! THANK YOU!

She's such a great audience surrogate with that line because Antoine is SO BAD in that show that I don't want to hear anything bad that he says! She also tells Sonic not to bother making fun of her landing in the swamp because she’s had a long hard day. I love her sassiness, any time she talks like that, it catches me by surprise, because she wasn’t like that in the comic and here it works so well, especially with her voice, which I’m pretty sure is also the voice of that friend of Angelica in Rugrats. Dulcy’s such a contrast to Sally, because while her sassiness is a surprise, it’s actually a pleasant surprise. She’s still nice to Sonic, and her sass is merely directed at characters who deserve it, like Robotnik.

While Antoine does nothing but screw things up for the heroes in unbelievable ways with his clumsiness and waste runtime by bragging, messing up English in ways that are usually implausible for a native French speaker, and all around makes me wonder why they don’t kick out his useless self, Dulcy is the exact opposite. She has ice breath letting her freeze Snively, she has fire breath – though it’s shockingly underutilized, I’d expect her to be constantly destroying robots with it, not simply burn an antennae on a flying machine. She’s usually used as a flying vehicle for Sally, but alright, that’s helpful too. And while I HATE the constant slapstick with her hitting her head, being dazed, and always always saying, ” I’m coming home, Ma, ” which isn’t funny at all and just sadistically mean-spirited of the writers, it’s not fair to hate her entire character just because of that.

For one, I realized that her crashing with her flying has some positive things about it. It helps balance out the overpoweredness of her being able to fly much better than Tails and let people ride her, because it comes at a price. And there’s genuine tension when she’s flying through a canyon because the whole time, I was worried she was going to crash, but she never did. Granted, just like in the comic, it’s bad that she plops into the show out of nowhere with no proper origin story for how she met and joined the Freedom Fighters like would be expected averagely-good writing. And what I didn’t know until I finished watching the show was that she only came to the show from meta logic; executives wanted another female character.

But hey, aside from the filler slapstick with her and the underutilization of her fire breath, they did the best job they could with that kind of ” force another female character into the show because she’s a cool dragon with all sorts of uses, and that alone makes her better than Antoine. Plus Fiona Fox was ALSO plopped into the Freedom Fighters in the Archie Sonic comics with no origin story, so Dulcy’s not the only one. Also, in "Sonic SatAm," Dulcy's not a forgetful dope, she’s not a complete idiot for even more failed forced comedy, she’s simply a klutz. But unlike with Antoine, I don’t remember her clumsiness constantly screwing things up for the heroes. Her crashing is just pointless, which is better than it could be. Stay tuned for part 6 of my review:)

Welcome to part 4 of my review of "Sonic SatAm!" Rotor’s not only out of focus and artificially incompetent, but he’s just always felt lame to me. They don’t make him an outright comedic character, which stinks because in the comic, I found it charming with those occasional moments where he sat on a seesaw and his weight sent Tails flying to the ceiling, or when he got all excited and giddy over something as boring as an ant farm. Moments like that, where he makes silly mistakes or where he shows he has a sense of humor with his dialogue, making puns, so he could work as a dorky geek.

But he said in SatAm that he doesn’t want to be just the nerd. His character is so weak. I like the rare comedic moments with him in the comic giving life to his character, and I liked the rare moments in SatAm where Rotor was serious; he said he wanted to turn Robotnik into a can opener, and he fiddled with the fake Sally saying he’ll have a surprise for Robotnik, and he asked Sonic in annoyance if he was going to just walk into a robot bar and ask where the spy sensors were hidden. Moments like that where he’s serious and irritated make me respect him, he could work better as a tough guy which his design shows him to appear like because he’s a big walrus guy, so I’d expect him to be a lot more active in the action.

He could be the ” Shoot the Dog to do the right thing, ” serious person, like he was when he met Bunnie in the Archie Sonic comics since he was worried she’d have a tracking device to locate Knothole in her, while Sonic just wanted to save her when she was tired. Even Ian Flynn wrote him better in "Other M" where he was an angry tough guy, even if he had that pointless revenge for his family fixation that never gets proper resolution since the culprit dies to Knuckles instead of him. Rotor’s not comedic or an angry tough guy, so he’s just stuck in the middle and he’s boring. And I hate that they ruined his design in SatAm later making him skinnier and look like he’s covered in chimney soot because I don't think the "Sonic SatAm" people picked a good design for Rotor when they did that. At least his ruined design makes me not care that he’s out of focus anymore because I don’t have to look at that.

As for Bunnie, she’s a bland nice girl who’s just a ditzy dumb blonde. I liked her when I was first reading the comic, but eventually I got so bored of her seeing that ” oh, this is all your character is, huh? Just having a Texas accent doesn’t make you an interesting person!” and by issue 40 I almost hated her, and since she barely has any friendship moments with Sonic in either continuity, I can’t forgive her for her threatening to murder Sonic in issue #40. It’s a million times worse than any slap (yes, even Sally's slap to Sonic in Archie Sonic comic #134!!!). But yeah, she’s a dumb blonde, there are so many times where she’s an idiot in both the comic and the show and she’s NEVER called out on it, making it feel like sloppy writing because it feels unintentional.

For the comic, well out of multiple examples she once wanted Antoine to go down the stairs on crutches and a broken leg, not to mention she temporarily retired WITH HIM when he was hurt when she’s way more useful than he is in theory. She also was reluctant twice to escape the Iron Queen’s city when she knew she could be controlled by her from experience. And for the show, she took forever to get the idea to extend her legs to save the kidnapped terrapod when that idea was obvious immediately, and when she asked if she could make a suggestion, her only brilliant idea was to get out of there, which no duh. I can’t really respect Bunnie as a result, so maybe someone else should’ve been the cyborg? Maybe Antoine or Sally could have been a cyborg and Bunnie could just be Sally’s hairdresser.

Bunnie's got barely anything to her character, she’s so boring and not that respectable aside from her cool cyborg strength, which she doesn’t think is worth being a cyborg just because of the way it makes her LOOK, never mind that it makes her awesome. Her cyborg angst is the only thing remotely interesting about her character and it doesn’t even make sense, because someone cheerful and ” all brawn and no brains ” should be nothing but grateful for her cyborg super strength, but ” oh no, I don’t look pretty enough, I wanna have my nails manicured! ” And it’s just even more proof that she’s not a smart person. And it takes until the last episode of Season 1 for Rotor to get the idea to make her legs extendible, another proof of how useless he is in this show since she has tons of abilities in the comic like flight and a force field, and then in Season 2 she’s completely pushed out of focus in favor of Dulcy. I'll talk about Dulcy in part 5 of my review, which will be in my next post, so until then, toodles:)

Welcome to part 3 of my "Sonic SatAm" review. Tails is such a ridiculously underutilized character in that show. He almost never gets to be useful. He didn’t get believed about the Sally robot when I thought he’d get to be useful that way at least. He only shows up to be read a bedtime story like he’s a stupid little kid who can’t do anything.

At least it’s sweet seeing Sally give Tails kisses, acting like his mother. And hey, at least Tails has a GOOD voice for once in the franchise’s history of TV shows (Tails's voice wasn't really that great in "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog," though I think that he sounded fine in "Sonic Boom" and definitely in "Sonic SatAm"). Speaking of that, the acting is great in this show, it’s just a few weird voices that sucks. But Tails barely ever even flies, you’d think his flight would constantly be coming in handy! He was planned to be much more useful in Season 3, but the series was cancelled thanks to Disney requiring only their shows on ABC. He was only competent at basically the finale, where it’s revealed out of nowhere that Sally taught him how to hack a power plant so that it wrecks itself.

Apparently Sally's a Gadgeteer Genius in this continuity. She even made a rough translator for the terrapod rhinos, though I do love that it was realistic by taking forever to work even adequately, unlike in "Sonic Colors." But still, apparently she’s such a programming whiz that she can even explode a generator just by typing in its computer. That should be Rotor doing that, but instead Rotor’s so out of focus and useless. I’d like to imagine Rotor to have made ray guns and bombs for all his friends and given them to them so they’d be destroying robots constantly throughout the show, but instead not even Sonic can defeat Swatbots that he easily trashes in the comic, and Rotor feels like a useless goofball as a result. Like the time he made a quill sharpener for Sonic and even that screwed up, giving him a terrible mohawk.

I mean, I’m all for alternate character interpretations in an alternate universe. So this zone’s Sally is a gadgeteer. Good, she’s more competent! The problem is that it feels like a lazy, inadequate, and tacked-on attempt to make her more useful and put her in the spotlight more because she was very popular back then. The reason I say this is because she looks exactly the same as the normal Sally Acorn.

If you want to make Sally a gadgeteer, then that's fine, but give her a lab coat instead of her normal vest! Give her glasses, make her say she has an IQ of 200, regularly show her working on inventions with Rotor and imply that she’s being taught by him! Have her talk in techno babble occasionally! Don’t just make her like normal Sally but not! Most of the time, the only technology stuff she does is when she uses NICOLE.

And NICOLE is so boring in this show. There’s a reason I’m only referring to her as an acronym. She has no personality, she’s just a boring AI handheld computer who talks like a mindless robot slave for Sally. Aside from when she started using Sonic’s slang and talking more relatably because Sonic wanted her to speak plain English, which only happened in season 2 and I did love that, even if her trying to talk in Sonic slang wasn’t her and just sounded awkward, so I understood Sally pointing it out by asking Sonic, ”what have you done to her?” Fortunately, Sally SMILED while saying that to Sonic rather than being rude, and NICOLE should’ve always been with Sonic, not Sally, because they have such a better dynamic, as in they actually HAVE a dynamic.

I do like that Sally’s less of a jerk in season 2, they tone down her character after that. But still, she comes off as a failed tsundere (that means a girl who first comes off as cold and tough but over time becomes soft and sweet), because she’s too unlikable with her rudeness to Sonic to be endearing. And I’ll always hate when she and the others worry about Sonic like they have no faith in him at all, it’s so genre-blind and such filler. It feels like this is a show where almost none of the characters are likable. I have problems with every character in this show and that’s always a big deal because these characters are ALWAYS there. I hate Robotnik, Snively, Antoine, and Sally when she's near Sonic most of the time.

The closest there are to good characters are the blandest ones who happen to be Bunnie, Rotor, and Tails. I'll talk about why I think so in part 4 of this review next time, so take care, and I'll see you all then:)

Welcome to part 2 of my review of "Sonic SatAm!" Oh, goodness, can I talk about Princess Sally Acorn for a second? I know that a LOT, and I mean A LOT of people like to complain about Princess Sally Acorn from the Archie Sonic comics because of a certain slap she did to Sonic in Archie Sonic comic #134, but she apologized for it to Sonic in Archie Sonic comic issue #187, which was made 13 YEARS AGO! So people need to get the living daylights over that, and in the preboot Archie Sonic comics up to issue 230, Sally was a really deep character who’s relatably a worrywart and had other things to her character like being a bad cook and being a people-pleaser even when it might not have been smart. But Sally in "Sonic SatAm" is HORRIBLE to Sonic, and I would rather see her slap to Sonic from issue #134 of the Archie Sonic comics than see her shockingly rude and disrespectful behavior towards Sonic in this show. Every time, she shocks me with the rude lines to Sonic she gives like, ”where were you when they were handing the brains out," and "that was absolutely crazy, Sonic!"

Sally should have realized that in that episode where she said to Sonic, "that was absolutely crazy," Sonic saved her darn life! Another line from Sally that infuriates me is, "but, unlike some hedgehogs who leap before they look, I have the ability to LEARN," which makes Sally look DUMB because she should have realized that Sonic can spin-dash, which MUST have taken practice to pull off on Sonic's part! And when Sonic grabbed the rope of the biplane in one "Sonic SatAm" episode to keep it from crashing off a cliff, Sally didn’t thank him right away and stupidly said condescendingly that, ” We were in a plane. If we fell off the cliff, we’d fly away” in the most condescending tone ever, and then Sonic had to be the one to point out that ” where would you land?” And FINALLY, she thanks Sonic. I would expect any decent being to thank him for saving her right away. Even Sally did that in Archie Sonic comic #7 in one story where she was dressed up like a witch, even if she smacked Sonic in the head with a stick after the thank you and kiss. From the pilot episode alone, she insisted Sonic was not helping! How?!

That's not even talking about all the arguments they have, where they’re bickering like 5-year-old children whether or not something will work or whether or not something is cool or disgusting! Goodness, that filler, make it stop! It drags the show’s pacing to a screeching halt and makes it ploddingly, nails-on-a-chalkboard SLOW. Why would Sally not immediately cut that immature excuse for an argument short instantly instead of wasting her time being just as childish as he is like a five-year-old, even stomping on the ground? This is so out of character for Sally!

Any time they have those exchanges where they each say very little between each other, I hate it because it’s padding out the runtime and making it painfully obvious in a meta sense, that the writers didn’t have enough ideas to make the genuine plot last the entire episode, so they had filler. I’ve watched a lot of shows in my life, and this easily has the most, most noticeable filler out of all of them. I can get behind her being a bratty princess. I loved a story from the Archie Sonic comics called "Paper Trails" where she got furiously power hungry over a newspaper article by Rotor poking fun at her dying her hair twice. But the minute she’s a jerk to SONIC, the main hero of the world, the most competent of the heroes ever because of his super speed, that’s when I draw the line and that’s 90% of her brattiness right there.

Speaking of Sonic, I can actually see where she’s coming from treating him like an idiot who’s never useful because he IS an idiot. This is one of the worst Sonic the Hedgehogs I have ever seen. They turned him into a parody of himself. Not only is he an idiot who doesn’t believe Tails about the Sally infiltrator making me practically start screaming at the computer in my review, but worst of all, he’s SUCH a wimp and it’s not even pointed out. Any time he’s actually scared of the robots or Robotnik and backs away from them like a coward, it makes me sick.

It’s a very common thing for Sonic in "Sonic SatAm" to just cowardly run away from the robots instead of just spindashing through them and destroying them. It’s so not self-aware of the writing, it’s so stupid, because this is a guy who can move as a buzzsaw at over 600 miles per hour. What do you think is gonna happen when he hits a robot?! And there’s not a single line in the show where they SAY, that the metal of the robots is just that tough, or that all he’d do is kill himself from the high-speed impact with them even if he did damage them.

It angers me seeing Sonic be such a wimp. I loved Sonic’s brotherly relationship with Tails where he picks him up and teases that he’s not gonna have fun with him once and then they slide down the Great Oak Slide anyways, but it barely ever shows up. So yeah, I've got more to cover on "Sonic SatAm"; stick around for part 3 of this review, and until then, toodles.

Alright, let's talk about one of the OTHER Sonic cartoons that has made it's way onto TVs in the 1990's, and that show would be known as "Sonic the Hedgehog" or "Sonic SatAm" for short. This is the show that not only has Sonic and Tails, but also has other anthropomorphic characters like Princess Sally Acorn, a partially roboticized rabbit named Bunnie, a walrus named Rotor, and a coyote named Antoine, plus there's a dragon named Dulcy who shows up in season 2. Plus it also has not only Dr. Robotnik as an antagonist, but Dr. Robotnik has a sidekick named Snively who happens to be his nephew instead of someone like Scratch and Grounder from "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog" or someone like Orbot and Cubot from the modern Sonic games. Now, I will say right off the bat that "Sonic SatAm," along with "Sonic Underground," is one of the better Sonic cartoons, but it does have a lot of problems. But the problems have nothing to do with Dulcy or the attempt at a serious tone, emphasis on attempt.

There’s so much to talk about. I'd say that Antoine is the biggest problem with this show because almost every single time he’s given the focus, whether it’s his cowardly annoying noises and quivering or his bragging and lying, it’s complete filler. Filler is a really big problem with "Sonic SatAm." Every episode has worthless filler, like Snively and Robotnik talking to each other when we could just see the plan carried out for the first time from Sonic’s perspective, and basically any attempt at comedy in a show that never made me laugh once. I loved seeing all the episodes of "Sonic SatAm" that I could before "CrystalMaiden 77" reviewed them all and seeing the ones that she did review, and she gave great reviews on that show on YouTube. Robotnik's so painfully boring.

Robotnik's so generic. I give props to his voice being really creepy, but it’s trying too hard, and I prefer how Long John Baldry voiced Robotnik in "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog" even if Robotnik was mostly an incompetent villain. I loved the moment in "Sonic SatAm" where he was bothered by bumblebees and Snively was trying to lead him somewhere, and while he was trying to talk all menacing as usual, he was interrupted. It was a parody, a "Take That," instead of taking him completely seriously. I love that he’s a threat, a genuine strong antagonistic force who rules a whole city.

Eggman SHOULD be a threat if you’re gonna make him a one-dimensional character with no real reason for what he’s doing because you need to at least make a villain like Eggman a threat to take seriously. Villains need to be credible and taken seriously by the heroes so that I can see taking him down as a major goal, unlike in the cartoon called "Sonic Boom" where he’s just treated as a particularly smelly coworker at the office. And people say that he was made goofy and the target of jokes in season 2? I didn’t really notice that at all, he seemed the same to me, but it’s fine to make him that way to make up for how boringly serious he is, when he’s already a huge threat. One episode I can remember genuinely loving was "No Brainer," where it was SNIVELY who was in the major villain role, and being very competent at it. That was an episode that was like a ” done right ” version of a story Ken Penders did in the Archie Sonic comics called ”A Scrambled Hedgehog ” in every way except for Sally calling Sonic the leader of the heroes when THAT’S HER JOB.

And if I will give at least some compliments to "Sonic SatAm," at least it doesn't have Sonic constantly grabbing disguises or materials out of nowhere like what happened in "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog," plus it doesn't have him being a sadist, either. Another compliment I will give to "Sonic SatAm" is how well-drawn the environments are compared to "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog," plus another compliment I will give to "Sonic SatAm" is that unlike "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog," it has a good balance of being lighthearted and tense. But there are more problems with "Sonic SatAm," and they are NOT MINOR... check out more posts for information on why I think so, and until then, I will see you next time for part 2 of my review of "Sonic SatAm."

Final part of my "Sonic Underground" review:

Alrighty then, it's time for the final part of my review of "Sonic Underground!"  To recap, I love the characters Sonia and Manic, I even love Knuckles, I even love some episodes of the show, I love that Sonic, Sonia, and Manic can use medallions to use magical musical instruments, I love the theme song, and I even like the character named Mindy.  Of course, I do have some problems with the show like how characters use disguises and how bad voices of "Sonic Underground" can be like those of Sonia and Knuckles!  But those are MINOR compared to other problems I have with that show!

One serious problem I have with "Sonic Underground" is the fact that the show pretty much sticks to the status quo.  Ladies and gentlemen, I REALLY do not need a show that sticks to the status quo; what's wrong with breaking away from the status quo to shake things up?!?  Maybe I'd LOVE to see Robotnik get defeated and have Sonic, Sonia, and Manic get new villains to fight, but they practically NEVER do!  Another problem I have is the fact that Queen Aleena abandons her children because the Oracle of Delphius said so!  WHY DID SHE HAVE TO DO THAT?!?

Queen Aleena didn't have a bomb in her body that would cause her to blow up, plus she didn't have other people to save or anything!  I do at least like that she looks sad when giving up Sonia in the first episode of "Sonic Underground," but WHY did she have to separate from her children?!?  Also, if the Oracle of Delphius could wake up Sonic and do magical things, why couldn't HE have taken down Robotnik?!?  Another major thing that "Sonic Underground" fails at, however, is continuity because I would have liked the episodes to have actual continuity, but sadly, at some point, it doesn't have any more continuity.

Also, I can understand WHY people don't like the songs that play during the run-time of "Sonic Underground" that AREN'T the intro song, but even then, in this day and age, you can just SKIP THEM and little of value will be lost.  The songs only last for about 1 to 2 minutes, and you can do something like work on a sudoku puzzle or maybe use your cell phone during the time those songs play!  I hate it when people dismiss the entire show as a joke because of the songs since you're not watching a Disney musical movie or even any other kind of musical when you're watching "Sonic Underground."  But I do like the charming interactions Sonic, Sonia, and Manic can have with each other, and with that, I think my "Sonic Underground" review is done.

So what are my thoughts on "Sonic Underground?"  I think it's a fine show, but like I've said, it DOES have problems.  I can overlook the voice-acting problems and maybe even the disguises and song problems, but NOT the show sticking to the status quo, the lack of continuity, the lack of villains and Queen Aleena abandoning her children for no good established reason.  I do love the characters Sonia and Manic, Knuckles, Mindy, the theme song, and the other things I mentioned that I loved along with the fact that it's not like the games.  Results may GREATLY vary in whether or not you like "Sonic Underground" or not.  I can TOTALLY understand if some people don't think it's a great show because while I don't think it's a bad show, it definitely needed some fine-tuning to be a great show.

Anyway, I don't think "Sonic Underground" is as bad as something like "Sonic Free Riders," "Mega Man X 6," "Mega Man X 7," or even some of the Sonic comics that Ian Flynn wrote because unlike THOSE things with their crippling flaws, I don't think that "Sonic Underground" crashes and burns because of their flaws.  And I'd definitely prefer "Sonic Underground" over some of the idiotic Sonic stories that I've seen in recent years (I'm looking at you, stories from "Sonic Lost World" and "Sonic Forces!").  Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed what I had to say about "Sonic Underground."  Next up, I'm going to be talking about "Sonic SatAm," so take care and have a fantastic day:)

Part 2 of my review of "Sonic Underground":

Here's part 2 of my review of "Sonic Underground!"  Another thing I appreciate about "Sonic Underground" is that that show tried to do world-building, plus some of the episodes are really interesting.  For instance, I love this episode called "The Price of Freedom" where Sonia meets up with this friend of hers named Mindy LaTour and Mindy's dad, and you may think Mindy is just a spoiled rich girl, but she really isn't.  She's actually pretty sweet to Sonia and she wants to be a Freedom Fighter like Sonia and I love Mindy for that as well as being the subversion to the snobby rich girl stereotype.  Sonia met up with Mindy in that episode after kind of getting fed up with Sonic and Manic teasing her about her appearance.

I actually kind of felt bad for Sonia in that episode because I think at least SOME people in real life would probably want to be clean like she would.  Fortunately, after spending some time with Mindy, Sonia patches things up with Sonic, and after Mindy asks for an explanation of WHY her dad was making spy watches for Robotnik, Mindy's dad actually wants to turn the tables on Robotnik!  There's more to the episode, but I won't spoil it.  In case you can't tell, I DARN LOVE that episode!  But I do agree with Mindy's dad that it wasn't a smart idea to let Sonia in their house (or maybe it was a mansion?) because Mindy and her dad did lose their home, and you think those two would be infuriated at Sonia, Sonic, and Manic for pretty much inviting danger to their home.

Another favorite episode of mine is this one where Sonia meets up with a guy in a desert city whom ends up getting cyborg legs near the end of the episode.  Fortunately, he appreciates getting the cyborg legs instead of being UNGRATEFUL like Bunnie is at least sometimes in the Archie Sonic comics.  Another one of my favorite episodes involve Sonic and his siblings coming across a guy whom uses a powerful energy sword, and while he was partially roboticized by Robotnik, he DOES help Sonic rescue Manic.  I also love the fact that Sonic and his siblings have magical instruments that can be used by using their medallions; for example, Sonic has a guitar that can shoot lasers, Sonia has a piano that can create pink smoke, and Manic has drums that can be used to create earthquakes!  In addition, Sonic's medallion can even allow Sonic to fly.

I also like that Knuckles makes an appearance in at least one episode, plus unlike SOME games, he's not a total doofus like "Sonic Boom," "Sonic X," or "Sonic Advance 2" can show him to be!  In "Sonic Underground," Knuckles is actually SMART and sympathetic.  When he tells Sonic, Manic, and Sonia that he can’t leave his island to help them and that he has a duty, he’s sad and worried, not angry and stubborn.  THAT'S how you can help make a likable hero, ladies and gentlemen!

The only real complaint I have about Knuckles (and this applies to other people like Sonia and Manic as well) is about their voices.  I can understand WHY people don't like Sonia's voice from "Sonic Underground," I REALLY can, but I don't think it could ever sound as bad as when CINDY ROBINSON voiced Amy or when Cream was voiced in "Sonic X" or "Sonic Heroes!"  I think even Roger Craig Smith had some pretty terrible voice performances that would make Sonia's performances from "Sonic Underground" sound like they're from a voice actor who knows what he or she is doing!  No, I don't really hate Roger Craig Smith or Cindy Robinson as people, but I do think that their voice-acting needed serious improvement.

I do like that Robotnik was a competent engineer, but I don't understand why Sleet and Dingo are so incompetent.  I do think it's clever, however, that Sleet has a machine that can transform Dingo into many different things and even people.  If Sonic in "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog" had such a gadget, something like THAT could help justify where he's getting disguises!  That said, though, you think that maybe Sonic, Manic, and Sonia would be suspicious of something that's ORANGE, but sadly, "Sonic Underground," much like "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog," had the same problem of people not recognizing some people in disguises.  And while "Sonic Underground" does have Sonia, Manic, and Sonic using disguises, I'm willing to at least go a little easier on it than I did with "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog," and I'll explain why.

The plots of "Sonic Underground" tend to take place in areas with people around the heroes, and it’s a world where the civilians look like anthropomorphic animal people.   Usually, the disguises cover enough that the general shape of the heroes is hidden so that you can’t tell they’re hedgehogs, and they can disguise their faces.  So it’s easier to swallow that someone would see them and think they’re some other Mobians in the city who just happen to be of the same coloration as them.  In "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog," though, Sonic is the only one who could’ve possibly been in that time and space, and yet they always think he’s somebody else, and the civilians of his world look nothing like him and Tails who stick out like a sore thumb.  Well, I guess I've got more to cover about "Sonic Underground" than I thought, so stay tuned for the finale of my review of "Sonic Underground" in the next post; see you all then:)

My thoughts on "Sonic Underground" (part 1):

Alright, ladies and gentlemen, I am back to review some Sonic stories!  I'm not sure if you ever saw my posts on "Sonic X" or "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog," but you can check them out in previous posts.  Personally, I don't think "Sonic X" or "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog" are very good Sonic cartoons at all.  I don't hate Chris Thorndyke or other humans existing with Sonic and his friends, but I do want Sonic and his friends to be portrayed well, and "Sonic X" didn't do that very well.  A LOT of people in the Sonic fan-base hate Chris Thorndyke, but I'm not really one of those people because while he did do something stupid by kidnapping Sonic, he did apologize for being selfish.

Also, I know that a lot of people like to hold Princess Sally Acorn's slap to Sonic from Sonic comic #134 against Sally, and while I can see why, they need to realize that Sally apologized for that slap and that outburst to Sonic in issue #187.  Another thing I REALLY hate from the Sonic fan-base is that when a character makes a mistake that he or she apologizes for, some fans will NOT forgive the character for mistake.  I REALLY hate that kind of attitude from the Sonic fan-base because it makes a lot of Sonic fans look like GIANT IDIOTS and not to mention GIANT BULLIES (I'm looking at people like you, "keiko utoku sonic" and "Dashing Jack!")!  OK, sure, maybe Mina Mongoose isn't the greatest character in Sonic history, but I don't think she's the worst Sonic character ever, ladies and gentlemen.  She did apologize to Nicole in Sonic comic #237 for the horrible concert that she did to incite anger against Nicole, so people need to kind of, as one of the songs from the Disney movie "Frozen" would say, "let it go!"

If you want people who I think deserve hatred from the Sonic franchise, someone like Ash Mongoose, Hamlin, Ixis Naugus, and Eggman would make that list, not people like Mina, Chris Thorndyke, or Sally (well, OK, Sally's not good in "Sonic SatAm," but I'll get into WHY I think so when I talk about "Sonic SatAm!")!  Anyway, "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog" COULD HAVE been a good show, but it just wasn't because Scratch, Grounder, and Coconuts were incompetent robots, Robotnik was very incompetent as a villain, Sonic was a sadistic hero, and the list of problems goes on.  There IS another show called "Sonic SatAm" that I haven't reviewed yet that pretty much started around the same time that "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog" did, but that won't be the topic of today's post.  Instead, I'm going to talk about ANOTHER Sonic show called "Sonic Underground" which got mixed to negative reviews from some people.  Instead of having characters like Tails and Amy, other characters get added to the show like Sonic's siblings, whom are Sonic's sister Sonia and Sonic's brother Manic, Sonic's mom Queen Aleena, and other characters like Sleet and Dingo.  Knuckles the Echidna DOES appear in at least a few episodes, but that's all you really see of him.

And yes, you see Dr. Robotnik (I'm sorry, but I don't really like the guy).  So you're probably wondering what my thoughts on "Sonic Underground" are.  Well, it's one of my favorite Sonic cartoons, but that doesn't mean that it's without problems.  One positive that I do like right away is the catchy theme song of "Sonic Underground" because it sounds like the guy's REALLY trying to sing well, and I think he pretty much succeeded.  I also love the action scenes and the animation in the intro of "Sonic Underground."  I think it's kind of lame that Sonic's mom Queen Aleena doesn't sing in the intro, but I do like her voice in the intro and the show.

If you want to see the "Sonic Underground" intro, just look it up on YouTube; I don't think you'll be disappointed.  I also love Sonic's sister Sonia because of how much enthusiasm she has about wanting to be a princess, plus she wants to be clean and wants to be careful, but there are some times when she takes risks, too, which I'm fine with.  I also love how realistically upset she is about not wanting to live life on the run; that must be pretty hard:(  There's not much to say about Manic, sadly, but he does like to steal, and sadly, he doesn't really suffer consequences for stealing.  At the very least, he IS a nice person (I wish I could say that about characters like Ash and Hamlin from the Archie Sonic comics), but I will discuss that ANOTHER time!

Another interesting thing is that Sonic, Manic, and Sonia are all triplets and they're all members of a royal family because Aleena is their mother and a queen!  Of course, I don't think Sonic should EVER be a prince!  The reason I say that is because if Sonic has to be a king, then he wouldn't EVER want to be one because kings likely wouldn't be able to go on adventures like Sonic would want to!  Kings would probably have to sit through a LOT of meetings and do a lot of paperwork, and I can see Sonic wanting to do neither!  Since my blog post is getting lengthy, stick around for part 2 of my review of "Sonic Underground!"
