Final part of my "Sonic Underground" review:

Alrighty then, it's time for the final part of my review of "Sonic Underground!"  To recap, I love the characters Sonia and Manic, I even love Knuckles, I even love some episodes of the show, I love that Sonic, Sonia, and Manic can use medallions to use magical musical instruments, I love the theme song, and I even like the character named Mindy.  Of course, I do have some problems with the show like how characters use disguises and how bad voices of "Sonic Underground" can be like those of Sonia and Knuckles!  But those are MINOR compared to other problems I have with that show!

One serious problem I have with "Sonic Underground" is the fact that the show pretty much sticks to the status quo.  Ladies and gentlemen, I REALLY do not need a show that sticks to the status quo; what's wrong with breaking away from the status quo to shake things up?!?  Maybe I'd LOVE to see Robotnik get defeated and have Sonic, Sonia, and Manic get new villains to fight, but they practically NEVER do!  Another problem I have is the fact that Queen Aleena abandons her children because the Oracle of Delphius said so!  WHY DID SHE HAVE TO DO THAT?!?

Queen Aleena didn't have a bomb in her body that would cause her to blow up, plus she didn't have other people to save or anything!  I do at least like that she looks sad when giving up Sonia in the first episode of "Sonic Underground," but WHY did she have to separate from her children?!?  Also, if the Oracle of Delphius could wake up Sonic and do magical things, why couldn't HE have taken down Robotnik?!?  Another major thing that "Sonic Underground" fails at, however, is continuity because I would have liked the episodes to have actual continuity, but sadly, at some point, it doesn't have any more continuity.

Also, I can understand WHY people don't like the songs that play during the run-time of "Sonic Underground" that AREN'T the intro song, but even then, in this day and age, you can just SKIP THEM and little of value will be lost.  The songs only last for about 1 to 2 minutes, and you can do something like work on a sudoku puzzle or maybe use your cell phone during the time those songs play!  I hate it when people dismiss the entire show as a joke because of the songs since you're not watching a Disney musical movie or even any other kind of musical when you're watching "Sonic Underground."  But I do like the charming interactions Sonic, Sonia, and Manic can have with each other, and with that, I think my "Sonic Underground" review is done.

So what are my thoughts on "Sonic Underground?"  I think it's a fine show, but like I've said, it DOES have problems.  I can overlook the voice-acting problems and maybe even the disguises and song problems, but NOT the show sticking to the status quo, the lack of continuity, the lack of villains and Queen Aleena abandoning her children for no good established reason.  I do love the characters Sonia and Manic, Knuckles, Mindy, the theme song, and the other things I mentioned that I loved along with the fact that it's not like the games.  Results may GREATLY vary in whether or not you like "Sonic Underground" or not.  I can TOTALLY understand if some people don't think it's a great show because while I don't think it's a bad show, it definitely needed some fine-tuning to be a great show.

Anyway, I don't think "Sonic Underground" is as bad as something like "Sonic Free Riders," "Mega Man X 6," "Mega Man X 7," or even some of the Sonic comics that Ian Flynn wrote because unlike THOSE things with their crippling flaws, I don't think that "Sonic Underground" crashes and burns because of their flaws.  And I'd definitely prefer "Sonic Underground" over some of the idiotic Sonic stories that I've seen in recent years (I'm looking at you, stories from "Sonic Lost World" and "Sonic Forces!").  Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed what I had to say about "Sonic Underground."  Next up, I'm going to be talking about "Sonic SatAm," so take care and have a fantastic day:)

Part 2 of my review of "Sonic Underground":

Here's part 2 of my review of "Sonic Underground!"  Another thing I appreciate about "Sonic Underground" is that that show tried to do world-building, plus some of the episodes are really interesting.  For instance, I love this episode called "The Price of Freedom" where Sonia meets up with this friend of hers named Mindy LaTour and Mindy's dad, and you may think Mindy is just a spoiled rich girl, but she really isn't.  She's actually pretty sweet to Sonia and she wants to be a Freedom Fighter like Sonia and I love Mindy for that as well as being the subversion to the snobby rich girl stereotype.  Sonia met up with Mindy in that episode after kind of getting fed up with Sonic and Manic teasing her about her appearance.

I actually kind of felt bad for Sonia in that episode because I think at least SOME people in real life would probably want to be clean like she would.  Fortunately, after spending some time with Mindy, Sonia patches things up with Sonic, and after Mindy asks for an explanation of WHY her dad was making spy watches for Robotnik, Mindy's dad actually wants to turn the tables on Robotnik!  There's more to the episode, but I won't spoil it.  In case you can't tell, I DARN LOVE that episode!  But I do agree with Mindy's dad that it wasn't a smart idea to let Sonia in their house (or maybe it was a mansion?) because Mindy and her dad did lose their home, and you think those two would be infuriated at Sonia, Sonic, and Manic for pretty much inviting danger to their home.

Another favorite episode of mine is this one where Sonia meets up with a guy in a desert city whom ends up getting cyborg legs near the end of the episode.  Fortunately, he appreciates getting the cyborg legs instead of being UNGRATEFUL like Bunnie is at least sometimes in the Archie Sonic comics.  Another one of my favorite episodes involve Sonic and his siblings coming across a guy whom uses a powerful energy sword, and while he was partially roboticized by Robotnik, he DOES help Sonic rescue Manic.  I also love the fact that Sonic and his siblings have magical instruments that can be used by using their medallions; for example, Sonic has a guitar that can shoot lasers, Sonia has a piano that can create pink smoke, and Manic has drums that can be used to create earthquakes!  In addition, Sonic's medallion can even allow Sonic to fly.

I also like that Knuckles makes an appearance in at least one episode, plus unlike SOME games, he's not a total doofus like "Sonic Boom," "Sonic X," or "Sonic Advance 2" can show him to be!  In "Sonic Underground," Knuckles is actually SMART and sympathetic.  When he tells Sonic, Manic, and Sonia that he can’t leave his island to help them and that he has a duty, he’s sad and worried, not angry and stubborn.  THAT'S how you can help make a likable hero, ladies and gentlemen!

The only real complaint I have about Knuckles (and this applies to other people like Sonia and Manic as well) is about their voices.  I can understand WHY people don't like Sonia's voice from "Sonic Underground," I REALLY can, but I don't think it could ever sound as bad as when CINDY ROBINSON voiced Amy or when Cream was voiced in "Sonic X" or "Sonic Heroes!"  I think even Roger Craig Smith had some pretty terrible voice performances that would make Sonia's performances from "Sonic Underground" sound like they're from a voice actor who knows what he or she is doing!  No, I don't really hate Roger Craig Smith or Cindy Robinson as people, but I do think that their voice-acting needed serious improvement.

I do like that Robotnik was a competent engineer, but I don't understand why Sleet and Dingo are so incompetent.  I do think it's clever, however, that Sleet has a machine that can transform Dingo into many different things and even people.  If Sonic in "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog" had such a gadget, something like THAT could help justify where he's getting disguises!  That said, though, you think that maybe Sonic, Manic, and Sonia would be suspicious of something that's ORANGE, but sadly, "Sonic Underground," much like "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog," had the same problem of people not recognizing some people in disguises.  And while "Sonic Underground" does have Sonia, Manic, and Sonic using disguises, I'm willing to at least go a little easier on it than I did with "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog," and I'll explain why.

The plots of "Sonic Underground" tend to take place in areas with people around the heroes, and it’s a world where the civilians look like anthropomorphic animal people.   Usually, the disguises cover enough that the general shape of the heroes is hidden so that you can’t tell they’re hedgehogs, and they can disguise their faces.  So it’s easier to swallow that someone would see them and think they’re some other Mobians in the city who just happen to be of the same coloration as them.  In "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog," though, Sonic is the only one who could’ve possibly been in that time and space, and yet they always think he’s somebody else, and the civilians of his world look nothing like him and Tails who stick out like a sore thumb.  Well, I guess I've got more to cover about "Sonic Underground" than I thought, so stay tuned for the finale of my review of "Sonic Underground" in the next post; see you all then:)

My thoughts on "Sonic Underground" (part 1):

Alright, ladies and gentlemen, I am back to review some Sonic stories!  I'm not sure if you ever saw my posts on "Sonic X" or "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog," but you can check them out in previous posts.  Personally, I don't think "Sonic X" or "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog" are very good Sonic cartoons at all.  I don't hate Chris Thorndyke or other humans existing with Sonic and his friends, but I do want Sonic and his friends to be portrayed well, and "Sonic X" didn't do that very well.  A LOT of people in the Sonic fan-base hate Chris Thorndyke, but I'm not really one of those people because while he did do something stupid by kidnapping Sonic, he did apologize for being selfish.

Also, I know that a lot of people like to hold Princess Sally Acorn's slap to Sonic from Sonic comic #134 against Sally, and while I can see why, they need to realize that Sally apologized for that slap and that outburst to Sonic in issue #187.  Another thing I REALLY hate from the Sonic fan-base is that when a character makes a mistake that he or she apologizes for, some fans will NOT forgive the character for mistake.  I REALLY hate that kind of attitude from the Sonic fan-base because it makes a lot of Sonic fans look like GIANT IDIOTS and not to mention GIANT BULLIES (I'm looking at people like you, "keiko utoku sonic" and "Dashing Jack!")!  OK, sure, maybe Mina Mongoose isn't the greatest character in Sonic history, but I don't think she's the worst Sonic character ever, ladies and gentlemen.  She did apologize to Nicole in Sonic comic #237 for the horrible concert that she did to incite anger against Nicole, so people need to kind of, as one of the songs from the Disney movie "Frozen" would say, "let it go!"

If you want people who I think deserve hatred from the Sonic franchise, someone like Ash Mongoose, Hamlin, Ixis Naugus, and Eggman would make that list, not people like Mina, Chris Thorndyke, or Sally (well, OK, Sally's not good in "Sonic SatAm," but I'll get into WHY I think so when I talk about "Sonic SatAm!")!  Anyway, "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog" COULD HAVE been a good show, but it just wasn't because Scratch, Grounder, and Coconuts were incompetent robots, Robotnik was very incompetent as a villain, Sonic was a sadistic hero, and the list of problems goes on.  There IS another show called "Sonic SatAm" that I haven't reviewed yet that pretty much started around the same time that "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog" did, but that won't be the topic of today's post.  Instead, I'm going to talk about ANOTHER Sonic show called "Sonic Underground" which got mixed to negative reviews from some people.  Instead of having characters like Tails and Amy, other characters get added to the show like Sonic's siblings, whom are Sonic's sister Sonia and Sonic's brother Manic, Sonic's mom Queen Aleena, and other characters like Sleet and Dingo.  Knuckles the Echidna DOES appear in at least a few episodes, but that's all you really see of him.

And yes, you see Dr. Robotnik (I'm sorry, but I don't really like the guy).  So you're probably wondering what my thoughts on "Sonic Underground" are.  Well, it's one of my favorite Sonic cartoons, but that doesn't mean that it's without problems.  One positive that I do like right away is the catchy theme song of "Sonic Underground" because it sounds like the guy's REALLY trying to sing well, and I think he pretty much succeeded.  I also love the action scenes and the animation in the intro of "Sonic Underground."  I think it's kind of lame that Sonic's mom Queen Aleena doesn't sing in the intro, but I do like her voice in the intro and the show.

If you want to see the "Sonic Underground" intro, just look it up on YouTube; I don't think you'll be disappointed.  I also love Sonic's sister Sonia because of how much enthusiasm she has about wanting to be a princess, plus she wants to be clean and wants to be careful, but there are some times when she takes risks, too, which I'm fine with.  I also love how realistically upset she is about not wanting to live life on the run; that must be pretty hard:(  There's not much to say about Manic, sadly, but he does like to steal, and sadly, he doesn't really suffer consequences for stealing.  At the very least, he IS a nice person (I wish I could say that about characters like Ash and Hamlin from the Archie Sonic comics), but I will discuss that ANOTHER time!

Another interesting thing is that Sonic, Manic, and Sonia are all triplets and they're all members of a royal family because Aleena is their mother and a queen!  Of course, I don't think Sonic should EVER be a prince!  The reason I say that is because if Sonic has to be a king, then he wouldn't EVER want to be one because kings likely wouldn't be able to go on adventures like Sonic would want to!  Kings would probably have to sit through a LOT of meetings and do a lot of paperwork, and I can see Sonic wanting to do neither!  Since my blog post is getting lengthy, stick around for part 2 of my review of "Sonic Underground!"

I think the Sonic fan-base is the WORST and most HORRIBLE fan-base I have EVER seen!!!

No.  I wasn't joking with the title.  I think the Sonic fan-base is the absolute WORST fan-base I have ever seen!  Why?!?  Here's a run-down of some reasons why I think so:

1.  At least some people in the fan-base are COMPLETELY unwilling to try playing some games like "Sonic Adventure" and "Sonic Adventure 2" for stupid and trivial reasons,

2.  At least SOME Sonic fans pick on people like me who hate Ian Flynn's writing!  I don't hate people who like Ian Flynn's writing, but can they AT LEAST try to accept that people like me will hate it?!?  Check out https://crystalmaiden77.wordpress.com/2019/04/14/all-my-problems-with-flynn/ to see why I think Ian Flynn's writing is awful; I agree with everything "CrystalMaiden 77" said there!!!),

3.  Some people are complete "game purists" who aren't even willing to give Sonic comics and TV shows like "Sonic Underground," "Sonic X," and "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog" a chance,

4.  Some people don't even go into reasonable depth about why they don't like the things that they do,

5.  At least some people are completely unwilling to accept each other's opinions, AND

6.  At least SOME people on YouTube like “keiko utoku sonic” and “Dashing Jack” are COMPLETELY unwilling to do research!!!

Now, keep in mind that I do love Sonic the Hedgehog.  I own A LOT of Sonic the Hedgehog games whether they're the classic Sega Genesis Sonic games, the "Sonic Adventure" games, "Sonic Heroes," and "Sonic Generations" along with others like "Sonic Mania" and "Sonic Rush."  But I didn't just play Sonic games; I watched every Sonic TV show.  Yes, I watched “Sonic SatAm,” "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog," "Sonic Underground," "Sonic X," and "Sonic Boom," and I already reviewed two of those shows so far.  The two shows I reviewed were “Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog” and “Sonic X,” and you can check previous posts for my thoughts on those shows.

I even read all of the Archie Sonic comics and did at least some reading of the Fleetway Sonic comics and read at least some of the IDW Sonic comics!  Personally, I would say that Archie Sonic comics before Ian Flynn was a writer and some of the Fleetway Sonic comics would have more of what I want in a Sonic story than anything that Ian Flynn did!  Everything Ian Flynn did when he was a writer for Sonic was nothing more than a slap to the face of people like me, “thebig3boxnetwork,” and other fans of early Archie Sonic comic stories.  For example, just look at issue #197 of the Archie Sonic comics!

I hate that issue because Sally shouldn't be in trouble for wanting to trying to stop Freedom HQ from getting destroyed, plus she shouldn't be in trouble for having Amy and Sonic invade Moebius EITHER!!!  Why did we need a stupid council in issue #197 acting like Sally was in the wrong?!?  Here's my answer:  we didn't, but Ian Flynn wanted it just because he hates Sally!  I think that Sega and Archie really should have asked Ian Flynn if he would respect the world and the characters of the Archie Sonic comics!  If the answer was going to be no, then they shouldn't have hired him at all!

If you want further proof that Ian Flynn hates Sally, look at what happened in issues 225 and 230!  He pretty much only had Sally come on the Death Egg with Sonic in issue #225, so in issue #230, she was pretty much turned into a robot and she stayed a robot until the reboot happened!  Sally could have just stayed off the Death Egg and had people like Geoffrey, Ixis Naugus, Bunnie, Amy and Tails attack the Death Egg instead with Sonic, and Sally could just stay off without anything tragic happening to her!  Also, we didn't need Bunnie losing her cyborg upgrades or Antoine getting into a coma!

But I was only scratching the surface of why Ian Flynn irks me when it comes to his writing.  Again, check out https://crystalmaiden77.wordpress.com/2019/04/14/all-my-problems-with-flynn/ to see why I think Ian Flynn's writing is awful.  It'll be a hefty read, but it'll be worth it; trust me:)  "CrystalMaiden 77" is a YouTuber that I'm a good friend of and she does a lot of good research on things pertaining to the Sonic franchise:)

No, I don't hate EVERY Sonic fan; there are some Sonic fans that I consider good people.  I do like "CrystalMaiden 77," "thebig3boxnetwork," and family members of mine who love Sonic in at least one way or another.  And there are SOME other Sonic fans I do like such as "ExoParadigmGamer" and "J's Reviews," but it seems that there are way too many bad Sonic fans!  Seriously, the Sonic fan-base makes other fan-bases like Mega Man, Mario, and Fire Emblem look good!  That's because unlike Sonic, Mega Man, Mario, and Fire Emblem didn't really have successful comics or TV shows!

Now, I'm not trying to imply that I hate Sonic comics or Sonic TV shows; in fact, consider me intrigued.  I don't even mind Sonic comics that aren't like the games, but when other people act like babies over that stuff, then I have a huge issue with that!  In the next post, I'm going to talk about what I consider one of the most under-rated cartoons of all time:  "Sonic Underground!"  Take care and I will see you all next time:)
